Hoffmann was an important figure in the Vienna Secession, Joseph Hoffmann trained at the Vienna Academy of Arts, under the leading architect Otto Wagner. He went on to become one of the most important architects and designers in Europe at the start of the tewntieth century. Ultimately his style and methods would inform the development of the modernist movement.
Hoffmann was at the heart of Viennese creativity at the turn of the twentieth century and is recognized as the leader of Viennese architecture.
Her worked in the International style, finding himself influenced by luminaries such as the Glasgow Four and, in paticular, the syling of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
