His strict adherence to the modern movement, laid down in some fundamental rules of beauty in design, resulted in his claissic, and famous, Barcelona Chair (1929).
In 1929, Mies van der Rohe designed one of his most famous buildings, the German pavilion at the World Exhibition in Barcelona. Athough a temporary structure, the Barcelona pavilion has become one of the most influential buildngs in history.
