One of Starck´s best-known designs, the Pratfall Chair was originally designed for the Café Costes in Paris. The Pratfall Chair was designed with three legs so that waiters at the café would trip up only half as many times as usual.

Form plywood on tubular steel frameworks. Mahogany, veneered or black paint. Upholster in black leather.

Philippe Starck has rightly earned his "Superstar" status. A household name to many, he is responsible for some of the most familiar products, chairs, and interiors such as the Pratfall Chair, widely known as the King Costes as well as the Costes Chair to have been designed since the 1980s.

Starck's products can be seen in the permanent collections of a number of European and American museums, among them the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York and the Design Museum in London. Exibitions of his work have been held in Paris, Rome, Munich, Tokyo, London and New York. He is also renowned for his eclectic interiors for Ian Scharger Hotels, Alain Mikli eyewear, Jean Paul Gaultier and Hugo Boss.
